Demo against CETA & TTIP - Four good reasons

On 17.09. the last big demo against the planned "free trade agreement" CETA... will start... but it still seems to be too few people interested. It concerns each and every one of us, because CETA will negotiate secretly and enable corporations to lower our environmental and social standards and take legal action against them in economically oriented arbitration courts. This is to the detriment of our democracy, environment and health. It is to be implemented on 19 July, passing our parliaments and replacing the TTIP agreement, which is to be regarded as a failure, and will cause the following problems (there are even more, but let us stick to the worst ones):

  • dismantling of the democratic rule of law (corporations can sue states)
  • degradation of production standards (chlorinated chicken, genetically modified food)
  • reduction of environmental standards (groups can file suit for Fracking permission)
  • reduction of social standards

For all these rights, which are important for each of us, are only so-called "trade barriers"for corporations and politicians. WITHOUT involving citizens and parliaments, only industrial lobbyists have access to and shape this agreement in favour of economic interests. Truly all the values and standards that people have struggled to earn and build over many centuries are sold for a better economy that does not benefit the common good.

You have to come to the demo, because if you don't stand up for your rights... who else?
